Impala Platinum Cycling Tour Johannesburg to Cape Town

The Impala Platinum Cycling Club are cycling the 1 700+ kilometres from Springs in Gauteng to Cape Town in an effort to raise funds for two local Springs schools that specialise in the education and needs of children with a physical disability and/or a specific learning problem.

All funds raised through this initiative will go to two schools in the Ekurhuleni East region. This first school that will benefit is Protea which caters for children with specific learning disabilities and the second school is the Muriel Brand which looks after children with physical and specific learning disabilities.

The tour consists of 20 cyclists, divided into three teams, dividing the 1 700 kilometres between them. The group will be assisted by a team of support personnel that will look after their health, safety on the road and all the other logistics that go with a tour of this nature.

C3 has sponsored this event for three consecutive years and continues to support this very worthy cause.

C3 Takes on The Roof Of Africa

C3 has sponsored Jacques van Eeden to participate in the "Mother of all Enduro Events", namely the Roof Of Africa enduro motorcycle race. The Roof of Africa, held in Lesotho, is considered to be one of the toughest off-road endurance events in the world, attracting the world's best extreme enduro competitors to take on the challenge. The race is held over three days in the harsh mountainous terrain of Lesotho and covers over 450 km's.

Jacques Van Eeden, sponsored by C3, says it's been a 'lifelong dream' to participate in the Roof Of Africa event. Unfortunately, due to lack of sponsorship in the past Jacques has been unable to fulfil this dream. C3 wanted to change that dream into a much anticipated and hoped for reality.

Nick Grange, technical director of C3, attended the event and said: "I am an avid rider too so I could really appreciate the stamina and technical riding ability that it takes to complete this race. It's an extremely tough challenge and I would like to congratulate Jacques for accepting the challenge head on and giving the race his all. C3 was extremely proud to have sponsored him and helped him to make his dream of participating in this event a reality."

Toni Jardine Competes at Women's World Enduro Cup

C3 Shared Services, specialists in intelligent video and perimeter security solutions, is proud to announce that they have taken part in sponsoring Toni Jardine's, the Top SA Female Rider in South Africa, recent trip to Spain and Portugal where she competed in the first two rounds of the International Women's Enduro Event.

Toni is a very competitive individual with strong commitment and has participated in various off road and Enduro biking events over the years. At only 18 years of age she was the first woman to enter all the National Enduro Event and is the youngest women ever to enter the Roof of Africa hosted in Lesotho.

In May 2012, after a massive fundraising event and support from local companies and the riding community, Toni managed to raise enough funds to get to the very prestigious Women's World Enduro Event hosted in Spain and Portugal. According to Toni Spain was insanely difficult where it rained for 30 days leading up to the event which made the terrain near impossible to ride. Sadly Toni did not finish in Spain but moved onto Portugal focused and determined to put points on the board. Toni was happy to finish up in 8th place on the Sunday before heading back home to represent South Africa in Zimbabwe at the FIM Africa Off-Road Motorcycle Continental Championship. As a member of the South African team who won the overall event Toni came first in the ladies class on a KTM 250 2T. Toni learnt a lot from these fantastic experiences and hopes to go back again next year.

Brendon Cowley, Business Development Director of C3 SS says, "C3 SS is very proud to be associated with Toni as her commitment and drive to be the very best in an extremely tough and competitive sport such as off road Enduro riding, mimics C3's spirit to be the very best in our field of intelligent security operations. We wish her all the best with her future competitions."

Team C3 Motorcross Development

C3 Shared Services sponsors local motor cross endurance development team. "Team C3 KTM" consists of brothers Darren and Nicholas Pienaar and development rider, Maxwell Hadebe.

Darren and Nicholas are well known in the Off-road and Enduro motorbike racing circle with Nicholas recently placing 3rd overall at the Bronkhorstspruit GOC Seeding Event and Darren placing 21st overall. Nicholas also recently competed in the first National Enduro for 2013 and placed 2nd overall and 1st in class.

The aim of the sponsorship is for the up-liftment of team rider of Maxwell Hadebe and to enable Maxwell to get to a competitive level with endurance riding. Max is 32 years old and became involved in the motorbike scene whilst training to become a bike mechanic with Ralph Pritchord. Max then worked as Clayton Enslin's mechanic for many years though he always wanted to get involved in racing but never had any financial backing. C3 has now made that possible. In order for Max to be able to complete on the competitive circuit he will need professional training and of course, equipment. Darren and Nicholas will be responsible for the training whilst C3 will be providing the Motorbike and the rest of the equipment. "It is our hope that Maxwell can achieve his dream of becoming a competitive motorbike endurance rider and even learn some valuable life and business skills along the way. If C3 can facilitate this dream we would be very happy as we are also avid bike riders and understand the love for the sport" said Nick Grange, technical director for C3.

C3 Summits Mera Peak to Stop Rhino Poaching

A huge congratulations to Nick Grange for his recent achievement in the summiting of Mera Peak in Nepal in aid of raising awareness for rhino poaching in South Africa. Nick flew to Kathmandu on the 23rd September 2014, and after an arduous landing at Lukla airport, known to be the one of most dangerous airports in the world, arrived in Nepal. On the 6th October, after a 7 hour hike, Nick summited Mera Peak. Mera Peak is 6 476 meters above sea level and its notable summit provides one of the most spectacular viewpoints in Nepal. This magical vantage point offers stunning views of five 8000m peaks, Everest and Lhotse to the north, Kanchenjunga and Makalu to the east and the majestic Cho Oyu to the west.

The initiative was in partnership with which is an independent web-based platform, dedicated to raising awareness and support for the war against rhino poaching. Since the start of the poaching epidemic in 2008 South Africa has lost over 2600 rhinos - a figure that, despite so much effort, increases daily. The figures are soaring despite so much effort by so many good people. That said, too many rhinos still die because of ineffective systems, the lack of political will, empathy and sheer negligence. will continue to channel funding towards specific projects, putting as much as they can into areas containing larger rhino populations that are managed by dedicated and responsible conservation minded rhino owners/custodians.

Nick Grange says, "This was a serious expedition for a critical issue in South Africa which is Rhino Poaching. The aim of the expedition was to raise both funds as well as awareness around the cause and this turned out to be very successful as well as an adventure of a lifetime. It was an awesome experience with 14 days of trekking in the mountains from rainforests to snow-capped peaks. One is struck by the sheer size of the mountains whilst standing at base camp (Khare - 5099m above sea level) you look up at Mera Peak and it appears almost to be as high as the Drakensberg range standing an another 1377m above you. Nepal is a small country rich in history, culture and religion, this is evident by the amount of Mantras, stupas and prayer wheels scattered across the landscape."

Well done Nick, what a fantastic achievement and I'm sure you have memories to last a lifetime.

C3 Spends the Day at Animal Ambulance

C3's community initiative is making a positive impact
As part of C3's ongoing commitment to the local community and making an impact in a positive way, the company has arranged a variety of social community initiatives that both the Directors and Staff will be taking part in during the year. The first initiative of 2015 was to spend a day at the Animal Ambulance facility in Pretoria.

The Animal Ambulance is a 24hr emergency shelter for sick and abused animals and was established in 2002. They are a registered non-profit organisation and exist entirely on donations from individuals and fundraising events and receive no funding from the government. The purpose of The Animal Ambulance is to aid abused and sick animals who without their help would die an often painful death. Animal Ambulance believes in giving all animals a second chance as they are a pro-life shelter.

On Friday the 27th March, C3 staff members and directors spent the day at Animal ambulance taking on tasks such as cleaning out ponds, cleaning stables, bathing dogs, donkeys and even sheep. Maria Phelan from Animal Ambulance had this to say about the visit, "The awesome staff from C3 Shared Services (Pty) Ltd came here today to make a difference by each and every one of them working very hard. This is one company I will welcome back with open arms, as they got completely involved when working with the furkids. These are earth angels that are committed with a smile... from the CEO to the tea lady it was a pleasure having them here", Maria goes on to say, "C3 Staff were very hands on making our load much lighter and they blessed us with a financial donation of R10 000! THANK YOU AMAZING ANGELS!".

C3 thoroughly enjoyed the day and were thrilled to have made such a positive impact on the lives of the animals at Animal Ambulance. Its day's like these that make one realise how important it can be to close those laptops and get out into the community and see what a positive difference you can make. C3 would like to thank all staff members for attending this event and we look forward to many more 'positive days out' during the year.

Maziya Combined School

Impala Platinum “Potjiekos” Competition

C3 Shared Services, along with various other contractors to Impala Platinum in Springs, combined forces to raise funds for the Springs SPCA.

On the 3rd of November 2017, we attended the “potjiekos” day held at Impala Platinum in Springs. The mission was to make several “potjies” and sell the food to Impala Platinum employees in an effort to raise the necessary funds to contribute to a non-profit organisation that was going through extreme financial difficulty before the busiest time of the year – festive season.

This SPCA shelter accommodates stray dogs and cats while actively sourcing new foster parents or ‘forever homes’ for the animals, with their primary and motivating concern being “the prevention of cruelty to all living creatures. The NSPCA acknowledges that the welfare of an animal includes its physical and mental state, and that good animal welfare implies both fitness and a sense of wellbeing.”

The “potjiekos” day was a huge success and approximately R175 000 was raised and handed over to the SPCA to assist in maintaining the facility and taking care of the precious animals.
